Joseph Lee Lanham was the son of James and Alice Ann Moore Lanham. He spent his younger years in Clay County and the Summersville area. Joseph had a twin Bertha R. J who died as an infant. He first married Victoria Keffer in 1910 and they had two sons Okey and Cecil. In 1914 he married Ada Conley Lanham and they had twelve children together before his death of a heart attack in 1957. The children were: Mabel, Mae, Marie, Francis, Martha, Kathaleen, Betty Jean, Madeline, Maxie Ann, Clarence, William, and Joseph. Ada and Joe spent their married life on Cabin Creek and he was a Coalminer.
