At her death Virginia was buried in an unmarked grave in the isolated Preacher Cemetery. Funds to pay for a memory marker were raised during the Fergusson Festival (Reunion) in July, 1994. Copies of "Our Fergusson Family" (prepared by Elreeta Crain Weathers) were available to acquire money for this marker. Death record for W.H.J. gave Virginia's name as "RANEY" & for S.V. Chumney and T.G. Fergusson as "RAMEY." Instead her maiden name was REAMY.

Virginia V. (Reamy) Fergusson came with her family to Hamilton County, TX in 1890. At the time of her death 28 January, 1914, Virginia was living with her daughter, Sarah Virginia Fergusson Chumney and her husband, George Washington Chumney in the Gum Branch community of Hamilton County.
