BURGETT, NANCY J. - Of Grass Lake, age 83, passed away April 11, 2010 under the loving care of the Jackson County Medical Care Facility. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert; brother, John A. Weese; and sister, Virginia Ahling. Nancy is survived by her loving son, John (Sharon) Burgett; grandchildren, Josh, Ryan, Staci, and Jack; great-grandchildren, Avery, Noah, and Jack IV; sister, Mary Crittenden; and brother-in-law, Patrick (Ellen) Burgett. One of Nancy's greatest joys in life was farming with her husband and son. Nancy was a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ and a lifetime member of the V.F.W. Women's Auxiliary Post No. 10194 of Grass Lake. She served as president of Michigan Cattlewomen's Association and was honored as Cattlewomen of the Year in 1990. She served on several committees of the American National Cattleman's Association. Nancy and her husband Bob were members of the Michigan Farm Bureau for many years. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m. Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Thursday, April 15, 2010 at Sherwood Funeral Home, with Pastor Kurt Demars-Johnson officiating. Interment will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Grass Lake. The family would like to thank Allegiance Hospice for their support and compassion during Nancy's final days.
