Dorothy E. Adair, 92, of Lebanon passed away Tuesday.

She was born in Plainfield, N.J., the third of four children to Paul and Maud (Swayne) Jones. She grew up in Wilmington, Del. Dorothy graduated from the University of Delaware in 1940 with a degree in sociology.

In 1943, Dorothy met Ellery Adair at a USO dance in Maryland. After marrying in 1945, they embarked on an epic cross-country honeymoon journey and made their first home in Huntington Beach, Calif. Dorothy and Ellery owned and operated a specialty butcher shop in Adair's Supermarket in San Clemente until 1957. The family tried out life in New Zealand for a year, then moved to Washington state and finally settled in Albany in 1973, where they established Adair's Orchards with son Bruce and daughter-in-law Hope.

Dorothy was a friendly and loving person. She was gentle, sweet and always willing to help others.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, two brothers and a sister.

Survivors include her children, David E. Adair and wife Karen of Seattle, Bruce Adair and wife Hope of Albany, and Wendy Erickson and husband Rodney of Clallam Bay, Wash.; grandchildren Doug Erickson and wife Janet of Bothell, Wash., Craig Erickson and wife Caroline of Port Townsend, Wash., Ian

Erickson of Seattle, and Aileen Tedrow and husband Jacob of St. Louis, Mo.; and great grandchildren Sian, Elliott and Nicholas Erickson.

Viewing will be from noon to 2 p.m. Sunday at Fisher Funeral Home. A graveside service will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Twin Oaks Memorial Gardens.
