CUMBERLAND,MARYLAND -- Dolly Lou (Meyers) Scharf, 76, of Cumberland,MD, and residing at Devlin Manor Nursing Center, passed away on Wednesday, October 10, 2007, at the WMHS-Braddock Campus.
Born December 31, 1930, in Wellersburg, PA, she was the daughter of the late Robert T. Meyers and Margaret E. (Garlick) Meyers. Mrs. Scharf was also preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Wilbur Scharf, May 18, 1986; and a stepdaughter, Deborah Minnick.
Dolly retired from the Local Garment Workers Union; but much of her life was being a devoted mother and grandmother. She was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie #245 Ladies Auxiliary and the Henry Hart Post #1411 V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary.
Dolly is survived by her children, Michael Robert Garrison and his wife, Jennifer; Carla Marie Redhead and her husband, John; Lloyd Scharf and his wife, Sherry, all of Cumberland, MD; Wendy Sue Tucker and her husband, Kenneth, Eldersburg, MD; and Jason Dean Scharf and his wife, Renee, Cumberland, MD.
Dolly is also survived by her sister, Mary Starkey, Wellersburg, PA; her grandchildren, Jessica and Michala Garrison; Patrick and Travis Wallizer; Brittney Redhead; Holli Vassallo; Megan Scharf; Ryan Tucker; and Sara Midyett; and her great grandchildren, Cody, Kenna, and Brady. Friends were received at the Adams Family Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur Street, Cumberland, MD, on Thursday, October 11, 2007, from 2:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M., and from 7:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. A funeral service was conducted at the funeral home on Friday, October 12, 2007, at 1:00 P.M., with Reverend Joe Dinicola officiating. Interment was in the Maryland Veterans' Cemetery at Rocky Gap.
