John Daniel had two brothers: Joseph (1791) and Daniel (1802), as well as six sisters: Rachael (1789), Elizabeth (1794) (Find A Grave #185057095), Hannah (1796), Mary (1799), Rebecca (1805) (Find A Grave #46381536) and Susannah

John was joined in marriage to Rebecca Johnston on the 14th of June 1822 in Champaign, Ohio. They were the parents of one daughter: Nancy (1823-1868) as well as four sons: William H. (1829-1915), Daniel B. (1834-1882), George Washington (1843-1923 and John (1832). John was killed o/a 1850 by Indians while traveling to California.

His sister's (Rebecca) obituary noted that the family moved from Virginia to Allen County, Ohio in 1811 and that they were the third family to settle in the county.

Rebecca filed for a widow's pension on 9/17/1863. The U. S. Civil War Pension Index notes John had served in the Civil War as an Infantry soldier.
