Colonel Dardeau was living in Ville Platte, LA when he entered the service and was a member of the 44th Tactical Fighter Squadron.

As a Major,On November 18, 1967, he was the pilot of a Thunderchief Fighter (F-105F 63-8295) on a mission near Phy Tho, North Vietnam, where the aircraft was shot down by hostile fire 68 KM West of Thai Nguyen City, NVN. He was promoted to Colonel while MIA and the POW network reports the UTM grid location of his death is
WJ206920.

His remains were recovered on November 25, 1987 and identified on February 3, 1988.

His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial, and on Panel 10E,Row 14 of "The Wall" on the DC Mall.
