Sara Lois (Brown) Mitchell, 77, of Scottsbluff, died Thursday, August 2, 2007 at her home. Her Funeral will be Saturday, August 4 at 10:00 A.M. at the First United Methodist Church at Scottsbluff with the Reverend Nancy Tomlinson officiating and assisted by her son Father Cope Mitchell.

Cremation will follow at the Jolliffe Funeral Home Crematory at Scottsbluff and inurnment will be at a later date at the Grace Lawn Cemetery at Edmond, OK.

In lieu of flowers, Memorials in Sara's name may be made to Prairie Haven Hospice. Friends may call at the Jolliffe Funeral Home at Scottsbluff, Friday, Aug. 3 from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M.

Sara was born October 6, 1929 at Chickasha, OK., the daughter of John D. and Lois (Farrington) Brown. She attended Oklahoma State University and Oklahoma University where she graduated with the Class of 1951. She was a member of the Chi Omega Sorority while in college.

Sara was united in marriage to Richard C. "Dick" Mitchell, November 20, 1949 at Chickasha, OK. The family resided in Oklahoma City, Amarillo, TX. and El Reno, OK. before moving back to Oklahoma City in 1974. Dick and Sara loved to camp and fish. They retired to Scottsbluff, NE. in 2002, only three hours from the Rocky Mountains.

She was a devoted Christian, Sunday School and Bible Study Teacher, Young Life leader, board member of the Christian Women's Club, P.E.O., Republican Women and a Den Mother while her sons were active in scouts.

Sara is survived by her sons: Chaplin (Maj.) R. Cope Mitchell, Jr. and his wife Suzan of Colorado Springs, CO., Clayton Lee Mitchell of Hollywood, CA., six grandchildren Sam, Anna, Gabe, Ian, Colin, Clare and two brothers Bill and Jack Brown. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband Dick Christmas Day 2006.
