W. B. Nickel Dead

William Benjamin Nickel, 710 Exchange, died this morning at 2 o'clock in the Newman Memorial county hospital. Mr. Nickel had been a chef for the past 40 years.

Funeral arrangements have not been made.

Mr. Nickel, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. James Nickel, was born June 29, 1875, in Montezuma, Ind. He moved to Kansas when he was 10 years old and came to Emporia 15 years ago. He married Elise Bud on August 24, 1898, at Burlington. She died at Burlington on May 9, 1913. Mr. Nickel married a second time to Pearl Shields at Siloam Springs, Ark. He was a member of the Masonic lodge of Siloam Spring. Mr. Nickel is survived by his wife; six daughters, Mrs Faye Hostin, of Dodge City; Miss Eula Nickel, Brooklyn, N.Y.; Mrs. Flora May Fox, St. Albans, N.Y.; Mrs. Earl Conn, of Lincoln, Neb.; and Maxine and Anita Nickel, of the home; three sons, William Nickel, 1315 Center; Demeral Nickel, of Halstead, and Ralph Nickel, of the home; a brother, Charles Nickel, of LeRoy; two half brothers, O.V. Rohr and Dewey Rohr, of Burlington; two half sisters, Mrs. Claude DeLong, of Burlington, and Mrs. Albert Zcheellie, of Los Angeles, Calif.; and two grandsons One daughter died in 1923.
