UPDATED & CORRECTED, AUGUST 2016, FROM ORIGINAL 2000 POSTED INFORMATION

My great-grandmother of the many name variations was born as Tonette Edvardsdatter to Evert Tobias Pedersen and Rakel Malene Olsdatter on 7 Aug 1852. Her newspaper obituary gave Mrs. Anna Hanson's birth as 18 Sep 1855 Norway. But after locating her Norwegian birth record, as well as the baptism and confirmation records, I now know that her daughter, my Great Aunt Bess was misinformed about her mother's true birth date. So Anna was actually 91 years, 1 month, 14 days old when she died, rather than the 88 years mentioned in one of the two obits I have that were placed in her little Norwegian prayer book by Aunt Bess.

Thonette Edvardssen, age 28, emigrated from Oslo Harbor on the Rollo on May 27, 1881 from a residence in Arendal (Norway), destination Glencoe, Minnesota. This is Anete "Anna", even though the age is 3 yrs. off from later records. She was older than my great-grandfather and apparently felt the need to "shave off" a few more years on her age.

In her Norwegian Psalm book, that I possess, her name is hand written in old fashioned script as Thonette Edvardssen - Arendal 1877, with the scripture Math 11, 28.29 entered also. On her marriage certificate to James Peter Hanson, her name was given as Anete Peterson.

Anete "Anna" Hanson was a resident of Stillwater, Minn. for 56 years. She died at the home of her daughter Elizabeth (Bessie) Cover in Chippewa Falls, Wisc. where she had resided for the previous 4 yrs. She came to Stillwater as a young woman and was married there on April 17, 1884 to James Peter Hanson b- Sept. 14, 1858 Denmark d-July 16, 1944 Lincoln Township, Washington Co. MN, a groceryman in Stillwater. They were divorced on 28 Jun 1904. The Fairview Cemetery Deed issued to D.M. Cover and Anna Hanson on Oct. 6, 1938 describes the parcel of land as "being 6'X20' between Lots No. 64 and 65 Block No. 12 and is where my great-grandmother is buried.

James and Anete "Anna" Hanson had 3 children: Arthur Arendal Hanson died Dec. 24, 1934 in Aberdeen, Brown Co, SD; Robert Arendal Hanson died in Seattle, King Co, WA on Sept. 4, 1948; Elizabeth Arendal (Hanson) Cover died Nov. 15, 1974 in Lynnwood, Snohomish Co, WA; also survived by four grandchildren, Helen M.(Hanson) Marshall, James Arthur & Robert Lee Hanson (children of Robert) & Kermit Arthur Hanson (child of Arthur) Also 2 great-grandchildren, George Kermit Hanson (child of Kermit) Roberta Ann Marshall, (child of Helen).
