John Abbott

MIDDLEPORT - John Frank (Pat) Abbott, 80, of Second Ave., Gallipolis, died suddenly Sunday at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Fern Gardner, Gallipolis.

Born in Mason County, and formerly a Middleport resident, he was the son of the late Perry and Sarah Wamsley Abbott. He was a retired car inspector for the New York Central Railroad.

Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Gardner; one son, Jack, of Gallipolis; two brothers, George, of Chester; and Arlee, of Pomeroy; one sister, Mrs. Dora Roush, Middleport; and two grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Katherine; one daughter, one son, and three brothers.

Services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. in the Rawlings-Coats Funeral Home, Middleport, with the Rev. Max Donahue officiating. Burial will be in Gravel Hill Cemetery, Cheshire.

Friends may call at the funeral home Tuesday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. and Wednesday until service time.
