Jess Willard Gentry, 94, of Greeneville, died Friday afternoon at Brookdale Senior Living.

He was an Ironworker with Local Number 5 in Washington, DC, and was a member of First Church of the Nazarene. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the US Army.

Survivors include his daughter: Judith Marlene Hudson; a son-in-law: Wayne A Hudson; and granddaughters: Tamara Bree Hudson and Briana Mireille Hudson.

He was preceded in death by his wife: Alta Mae Gentry, who passed away in January 2001; and a son: James William Gentry, who passed away in August 1960.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm today at Doughty-Stevens Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11 am Tuesday in the Doughty-Stevens Chapel. The Reverend Stephen Rutherford will officiate. Interment will follow in Philadelphia Cemetery with the Greene County Honor Guard conveying military honors. Pallbearers will be Rick Legard, Brian Legard, Jonathan Rutherford, Hunter Rutherford and Jacob Rutherford.
