Mr. Smarr died Saturday, April 2, 2011, at Blanchard Valley Hospital.
Surviving are two sons, Robert of Fostoria; and Carroll Jr. of Fairview, W.Va.; and two sisters, Shelia Maple, Salineville; and Gladys Reynolds in Texas.

Carroll L. Smarr, 89, Circle Drive, passed away Saturday, April 2, 2011, at Blanchard Valley Hospital, Findlay. He was born July 4, 1921, in Clarksburg, W.V., to Oakie and Nora (Pahl) Smarr. He married Nina E. Baker Aug. 10, 1946, in Orrville, and she passed away Dec. 30, 2008.
He is survived by his sons, Robert (Sharon) Smarr, Fostoria; and Carroll (Jean) Smarr Jr., Fairview, W.V.; sisters, Shelia Maple, Salineville; and Gladys Reynolds, Texas; nine grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Nina Smarr; son, Edward Smarr; brothers, Blaine, Billie and Oakie Smarr Jr.; and sister, Virginia Queen.
Carroll retired in 1983 as a lab technician at Union Carbide Co. with more than 30 years of service. He was a U.S. Army veteran and served during World War II. He attended Hope Lutheran Church.
The funeral service is 1 p.m. Wednesday, April 6, 2011, at the Harrold-Floriana Funeral Home, Fostoria, with the Rev. Larry Knigga officiating. Visitation is two hours prior to the service, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., also at the funeral home. Burial is in Fountain Cemetery, Fostoria.
