AMICK Mary Margaret Davin, 94, of Louisville died March 24 at the Episcopal Church Home. She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert Anthony Davin and Corinne McNally Davin; her brothers Robert, William (Brother Foster, CFX), and Paul Davin; her sister Loretta Davin Mudd; her husband Carl Williamson Amick; and a daughter Linda Corya Amick. "Mom Amick" was a devoted wife, sister, mother, grandmother, friend, and neighbor. Her kindnesses to neighbors were numerous. Children received plates of cookies on their birthdays and holidays. Sick and elderly neighbors received pots of soup, house cleaning services, and transportation. Her holiday tables were often crowded with neighbors for whom she was family. She was still visiting the "old ladies" at Twinbrook Nursing Home in her eighties. She was no stranger to hardship and adversity. She was the oldest of six children born to the children of Irish immigrants. Her father died when her youngest brother was only four and her mother was already losing her eyesight. Mary Margaret and her brothers and sisters pitched in to hold the family together through the Great Depression. She later married and suffered the loss of her oldest child. After the premature death of her husband she saw to it that all four of her children had the opportunity to receive college educations. Mom met every challenge head-on and, with great determination, carried on. She was a life-long Catholic and a true Christian. Visitation will be at Ratterman's, 3711 Lexington Rd. on Sun from 4-6pm. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Luke's Chapel at the Episcopal Church Home, 7504 Westport Rd, Louisville on Mon at 10am, followed by burial in Calvary Cemetery, Louisville. A reception will be held at 3pm on Mon in the Parlor at the Episcopal Church Home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to Reading Camp - South Africa c/o The Episcopal Diocese of Lexington: PO Box 610 Lexington, 40588.
