Mary Ann Smith, daughter of Jesse Marion Smith/ Elizabeth Matilda Furr from Mississippi.

Married 1) Shelby Dorsey Saxon in 1883; four children. Three living to adulthood. He died in 1892 of typhoid fever and buried in Mississippi.

She married 2)I. Newton Garrett in 1898. He died in 1899.

Moved to Texas about 1914. She died before I was born, but I heard great stories of her. The best was her and my Granny swatting any mouse they found in the house with a broom; they closed all the doors lest he might escape and they were standing up on chairs a hollering.
