Born in April 21, 1915, in Garrard County, he was a son of the late Thomas and Garnet Naylor Montgomery. He was a farmer and worked for the Garrard County Stockyards, Cowden Manufacturing Co. and Caldwell Stone for many years and was a member of Lancaster Baptist Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Shirley Turner of Lancaster; a sister Margaret Lakes of Lexington, Ky.; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife Vernal Montgomery; four brothers, Owen, Jim, Claude Edward and H. Clay Montgomery; and a sister Mattie Mae Spivey.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 10, 2010, at Spurlin Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Morris Trayner. Burial in the Lancaster Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Bob Jobson, Raymond Spivey, Jimmy Lakes, Billy Barker, Leonard Wayne Harrison and Matthew Harrison. Honorary pallbearers are his two last surviving classmates, Lydia Gastineau and Carl Lane.
