William Grover Magner was the son
of John H. and Catherine Barto Magner
of Monroeville, Indiana.
He was a brother to Rosetta (Albert) Pelz
and Naomi (Lee, Gabes, Shafer).
He come to Iowa as a young man and worked
at the tile factory east of Auburn, Iowa.
He met Lottie (Charlotte) Schulte, as he
walked by her house on Ash Street on his
way to and from work. They were married
November 7, 1911 at Auburn and lived with
her parents for a few years.
William and Lottie were the parents of:
Lawrence John, Wilma (Floyd) Wines, and
and Virgil Adam.
"Bill" took up farming near Auburn, also
around Glidden and then near Lake View. He
had a large dairy herd and farmed with horses.
He enjoyed hunting rabbits in the wintertime
and going fishing in the summer. He retired in
the early 1950's from farming and they moved
to 1601 Main Street in Sac City. He worked at
Priebe & Sons Grain for several years, also
at the sweet corn factory during harvest time.
He enjoyed gardening, raising rabbits, reading
westerns and the Saturday Evening Post and
playing cards.

William Magner
Funeral rites for William Magner, age 84 were
held on Thursday, May 8 at 10:30 a.m. at St.
Mary's Catholic Church in Sac City with Father
L.D.Frank officiating. Farger and Otteman was
in charge of arrangements.
Attendants were Ralph Mandernach, Dave
Bruscher, Earl Lang, Orville Russell, Wes
Lubeck, and Harlan Woehl. Internment was in
Oakland Cemetery, Sac City.
Mr. Magner was born November 7, 1884 in
Fort Wayne, Indiana and died on Monday,
May 5,1969 in Sac City, Iowa.
(NOTE - "Bill" was born in Monroeville,
Indiana, and died at the Colonial Manor
Nursing Home in Odebolt.)
