Otmer Thomas Gandee
Otmer Thomas (Ott) Gandee, 66, of 666 N. Howard St., passed away May 26 at Akron City Hospital after an extended illness.
He was a life resident of Akron, and lead a full and exciting life. Mr. Gandee was a well-known band leader in the '40's and '50s; he had the Staff Band at Summit Beach Park. He played semi-pro football for the Akron Bulldogs, was a seven-time Ohio State T. T. Motorcycle Champ, modified and built his own racing engine, had raced midget autos, was a former stunt motorcycle tire tester for Goodyear where he was also a hydraulic inspector, and held several of their patents. He was the widely-known owner and operator of Ott Gandee Motors and Wooster Honda, and had been affiliated with Rick Case Honda many years.
He was a dear husband to Dorothy; devoted father to Sandra Gannon of Ellet, Linda Sentelic and son-in-law Joe Sentelic, of Mogodore; loving gandfather to Joey, Jennie, Danny, and Vickie Sentelic, Jackie and Gayle Gannon; and longtime friend of Frank Alexander of Cuyahota Falls.
Funeral service and Burial Tuesday, 3:30 p.m. at the Hillside Memorial Park chapel, 1025 Canton Rd., Akron. Rev. Eugene Higgins officiating. Friends may call at the Hopkins MOGODORE Funeral, 34, S. Cleveland Av., 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday.
