Joseph Adamski Sr.

Joseph Frederick Adamski Sr., 77, Pottstown, was taken home to be with his Lord on Sunday, March 14, 2010, at the Pottstown Memorial Medical Center, Pottstown.

He was the husband of Virginia Ruth (Brunner) Adamski, with whom he shared 57 years of marriage.

Born in Pottstown, he was a son of the late Anthony and Cecelia (Perry) Adamski.

Mr. Adamski was an Army veteran of the Korean War.

He was a member of the former St. Peter's Catholic Church, Pottstown, and attended services at the Salvation Army, Pottstown.

He retired in 1995 as supervisor of the refuse department for the borough of Pottstown after 25 years of employment.

He was a member of the VFW and American Legion posts in Pottstown and the Special Fire Police of the Phillies and Empire fire companies.

A good family man, he was a loving husband, father and grandfather.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, are three sons: Joseph F. Adamski Jr. of Catasauqua, Russell D. Adamski of Pottstown and Daniel F. Adamski of Pottstown; three daughters: Virginia Ruth, wife of Charles Cox of Pottstown; Cecelia Lorraine Adamski of Pottstown, with whom he and Mrs. Adamski resided; and Audrey Lynn, wife of Edward Brosky III, of Pottstown; 11 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his six brothers: Anthony, Edward, George, Francis, John and Cornelius Adamski; his sisters: Victoria Piechota, Evelyn Cushman and Cecelia Wentzel; and his grandson, Christian Moses Weikel.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 18, 2010, at the Houck & Gofus Funeral Home Inc., 955 N. Charlotte St., Pottstown. Maj. Mary Francis will officiate. A viewing will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Interment with military honors will be in Highland Memorial Park, Pottstown.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Salvation Army, P.O. Box 378, Pottstown, PA 19464.
