Mrs. Mincer, Mill Hall, Dies
She and Husband Married 59 Years
Mill Hall – Mrs. Ida Johnston Mincer, 81, wife of Edward Mincer, 20 Market St., died yesterday at Danville State Hospital where she had been a patient for two years. Mr. and Mrs. Mincer, who were married on Aug. 29, 1901, would have celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary this year. Mrs. Mincer was born Feb 15, 1879, was a native of Zion, Centre County, daughter of James and Mary Showers Johnston. She had lived here since her marriage and was a member of the Church of Christ and the P.O. of A. Lodge.
On August 31, 1951, in the same home in which they had then lived 49 years, they celebrated their golden wedding anniversary. Ed Mincer was the young superintendant of the Monument brick works, when he courted Ida Margaret Johnston. When they decided to get married, they stepped into the horse and buggy at Zion, thinking to find a marriage parson on the way to Mill Hall. But they didn't and came here to the Presbyterian manse for the ceremony.
Mr. Mincer and a daughter, Mrs. Phillip M. Welch survive, also a brother, John Johnston of Chicago, and two sisters, Mrs. Joseph Harvey, State College and Mrs. Thomas Allen, Pottstown, and two grandchildren.
