Edward Mincer, 85, Former Brick Plant Sup't, Dies
Mill Hall – Edward Mincer, 85, who was superintendant of the Mill Hall Red Brick Co. plant 15 years prior to his retirement in 1942, died at 10:05 p.m. yesterday at the Lock Haven Hospital. He was stricken Tuesday evening when he went outside to buy soft ice cream from a vendor in front of his home, 20 Market St. Mr. Mincer had spent most of his active life in the brick making business, and had come to be an authority on the identity of brick plant crewmen.
Born at Draketown, March 24, 1876, son of William A. and Mary Smith Mincer, he began work for the Mill Hall Red Brick Co. in 1892 as a water boy. He worked for various companies in the expanding brick industry of those days, at Mill Hall and at Monument, but rejoined the Red Brick plant for the last 35 years before he retired. Then in World War II, he worked at the Sylvania Electric Products Inc. in Mill Hall for several additional years.
Mr. Mincer and the former Ida Margaret Johnston of Zion were married, Aug. 29, 1901 and have lived here all their married life. They celebrated their golden wedding anniversary with open house at their Market St. home. Mrs. Mincer died on Jan. 3, 1961 after an extended period of illness. Mr. Mincer was a member of the Church of Christ and the Mill Hall Knights of the Golden Eagle. He had lived at his present address 50 years. He leaves a daughter, Mrs. Phillip M. Welch at home and two grandchildren.

Edward and his wife Ida, adopted Bernice Ida Washburn,(Find A Grave Memorial# 47713449) after she was put up for adoption.
