The Wellington Leader June 10, 1965

A heart attack suffered as he sat in a doctor's office here took the life of Quinton Brewer, young Wellington business leader and member of the City Council. His death came at 12:30 p.m. Thursday, June 3. That morning he had worked with his cattle at his farm east of Wellington. Not feeling well when he returned, he went for medical help. He was 41 years old. With his brother-in-law, Lucien Bearden, he was owner of B&B Electric, an electrical contracting and appliance business they established in the late 1940s and developed into a major firm of its type in the southeastern Panhandle. He continued his farming and livestock operations and had other business interests and investments in Wellington. Mr. Brewer was elected to the City Council in April 1959 and re-elected three times, the last being in April of this year. In him, a progressive outlook was coupled with his abiding faith in the future of his native town, Wellington, and out of this came the constructive civic and area work so effective in recent years. He was a member of the Chamber of Commerce and served on various committees, and he was one of those who helped to form the Builders Club. Again, he was a member of its committees. Other organizations in which he was active included the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Rotary Club, Band Parents Club, and Little League Baseball. He was a member of First Methodist Church.

Quinton Virgil Brewer was born here Oct. 8, 1923, the son of Mr. and Mrs. George H. Brewer. He was graduated from Wellington high school in 1940. He was a veteran of World War II. On May 11, 1947, he was married to Miss Yvonne Shields.

Mr. Brewer is survived by his wife and four chldren, Becky, Elizabeth, Gary and George Eric; also by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. George H. Brewer of Wellington; and by three sisters, Mrs. Floyd McNabb of Dalhart, Mrs. Johnny V. Brown of Wellington, and Mrs. Herbert Bearden of Wellington.
