According to the Index to Compiled Service Records of Volunteer Union Soldiers Who Served in Organizations From the State of Texas, Addision Pate was a private in 1st Regiment, Texas Cavalry, Company C.

In the 1900 census Addison was listed as a medicine manufacturer.

The following appeared in The Dallas Morning News, July 9, 1927:

"A.F. Pate, 92, a Confederate veteran, died Thursday while visiting his son, Dr. J. D. Pate, at Duncan, OK., according to information received here. Funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock Saturday afternoon at the home of his son, H.E. Pate, 4336 Metropolitan Avenue. Burial will be in the West Dallas Cemetery.

Surviving are five children, Dr. Pate of Duncan, Mr. Pate of Dallas, Mrs. Betty Stone and Mrs. J. D. Starr, both of Dallas and Mrs. Ida Joley, Ennis: nineteen grandchildren, thirty-one great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren."
