CASS CITY CHRONICLE--FRIDAY, JULY 5, 1940.

The community was shocked and
saddened Monday morning to hear
of the sudden death of Mrs. Robert
Agar, 63, at her home on North
Seeger Street. Although she had
been in poor health for some time,
she had spent last week with her
daughter, Mrs. Ernest Nicol, at
Marlette and had returned home
Sunday afternoon and felt as well
as usual when she retired that night.
Mrs. Agar called her son,
who lives in the upper apartment,
about one-o'clock and she passed
away soon after.
Mary Ann Gage was born in St.
Clair, April 21, 1877, and she lived
with her parents in the Thumb
district for some years. She was
united in marriage with Robert
Agar, June 15, 1891, and they
moved to Cass City 35 years ago.
The last 33 years had been spent
in the house where she passed
away.
Mr. Agar died on December 28,
1934. A son, Robert, also preceded
the mother in death, He passed
away in November, 1937.
Funeral services for Mrs. Agar
were held at 2:00 p. m. Wednesday
in the home• Rev. Frank B; Smith,
pastor of the local Baptist Church
where Mrs. Agar was a member,
officiated. Burial was in Novesta
Cemetery.
Mrs. Agar is survived by four
children, Mrs. Pearl Hartwick and
Max Agar, of Cass City, Mrs. Mildred
Nicol of Marlette and Willard,
at home. She also leaves two sisters;
Mrs. Edward Pearson and
Mrs. Syver Johnson, both of Detroit;
two brothers, Charles Gage
of Wilmot and Jack Gage of Cleveland,
Ohio; 12 grandchildren and
two great grandchildren.
