BURTON, Richard Allen age 84 of West Milton passed away on Thursday, March 11, 2010, surrounded by his family. He was born May 24, 1925 in Dayton, Ohio. He was preceded in death by his father Howard Allen Burton, mother Bernadine Rose (Feltz) Steinbrunner, sisters Delores Bettinger & Mildred Hobbs. He is survived by his devoted and beloved wife Barbara Ann (Doane) Burton, loving family; son & daughter-in-law Richard A. Burton II & wife Jean (Compton) Burton - New Kent VA., daughters & son-in-law Judith M. Witwer, London OH, Patricia R. Simpson, Troy, OH, Sara L. and James B. Joyce, Newport News, VA, 8 grandchildren, (Christie Adkins, Adam, Tyler and Alicia Simpson, Megan and Joseph Burton, and Terrell and Hayley Joyce), 1 great grandchild (Ayven Adkins), sisters Loween Konicki, Dayton OH; Cynthia Cramer, Columbus, OH. He served his country in the US Marine Corps, during World War II - Iwo Jima, Korean Conflict - member of the Chosin Few. Retired from the US Postal Service, member of the Transfiguration Catholic Church, served as Secretary of the Miami County Bowling Assoc. for many years, spent 31 years bowling in the National Bowling Tournament, member of the American Legion, and enjoyed bowling, golf and being with his family. A mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, March 15, 2010 at the Transfiguration Catholic Church, 972 South Miami Street, West Milton, OH. with Father John MacQuarrie as celebrant, burial to follow at Miami Memorial Park, Covington, OH. Friends may call on Sunday, from 2-5 pm at the Hale-Sarver Funeral Home, 284 N. Miami St, West Milton, OH. Family would like to thank Hospice of Miami County for all their special care and concern.
