Maurice Dempsey Earle, age 83, of Berry, Kentucky, passed away Wednesday, April 30, 2003, at the Veterans Administration Medical Center, in Lexington, Kentucky. He was born in Berry on August 23, 1919, a son of the late Kelly Earle, Sr., and Katura Gardner Earle. He was a retired probation and parole officer for the state of Kentucky. He was a veteran of the United States Army, serving in World War II, a member of Berry Methodist Church and a member of the Knights of Pythias.

He was preceded in death by: his wife, Wanda Lois Burgess Earle; a brother, Herschel Earle; and a sister, Mary Horesik. He is survived by: two sons, Ronnie (Cindy) Earle, of Cynthiana, and Kenny (Pam) Earle, of Berry; a stepson, Charles (Jane Ann) Burgess, of Berry; three siblings, Kelly Earle, Jr., of Berry, Jean Keish, of Dayton, Ohio, and Marjorie Pierce, of Cynthiana; and two step-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Saturday, May 3, at Woodhead Funeral Home, in Berry, under the direction of Reverend Larry Jones. Music was shared by Anna and Coolidge Cason. Serving as pallbearers were Ronnie Spicer, Glenn Scott, Billy Hatfield, Dr. Gary Earle, George Pierce, Robert Pierce, Ewell Pierce, Jr., and Frank Keish. Honorary pallbearers were Robert McGinnis, Steve Medlin, Jim Strong, Bill Burden, Ed Miller, Dr. Don Stephens, John Swinford and Edward Milner. Interment was at Pythian Grove Cemetery, in Berry. Memorials are suggested to Berry Methodist Church or the charity of one's choice.
