Bertha L. Pfitzenmeyer of West Caln

Bertha L. Pfitzenmeyer, 87, of West Caln Township, passed away on Friday, June 15, 2007, a day before her birthday, at the Brandywine Hospital.

She was the widow of the late Charles W. Pfitzenmeyer, who passed away in 1985.

Born in Martin's Corner, Bertha was the daughter of the late Oliver Z. and Elizabeth A. Scott Killian.

An area resident her entire life, she was a 50-year, life member of the Ladies Auxiliary of Martins Corner Fire Company and a life member of the Martins Corner Fire Company.

Bertha was a member of the Wagontown Union Chapel.

She is survived by six children, Florine A. Griest, widow of the late Kenneth of Coatesville, Charles W. Pfitzenmeyer, husband of Shirley of Coatesville, Ethel Mann, wife of Samuel of Coatesville, Mary McAlpine, wife of Jay of Brandamore, Betty Busby, wife of Henry of Coatesville, and David L. Pfitzenmeyer and his wife, Audrey of Coatesville. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and a devoted nephew, Paul and wife Betty Pfitzenmeyer.

She was preceded in death by her grandson, Michael Mann. Bertha is the last of 17 siblings.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 21, at 11 a.m. at the Wagontown Union Chapel, 469 W. Kings Highway, Wagontown, with pastors Tim Crans and Raymond Leslie presiding.

Interment will follow the service in the Brandywine Manor Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to attend the viewing, which will be held on Wednesday at the church from 7 until 9 p.m. and on Thursday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.

Memorial donations may be made in Bertha's name to the Wagontown Union Chapel, P.O. Box 200, Wagontown, PA 19367, or to the American Kidney Fund, 6110 Executive Blvd., Rockville, MD 20852.
Funeral arrangements are being handled by the Wilde Funeral Home of Parkesburg.
