"Grammie" always wanted to live to be 100 - and she did! She had this special knack for giving family members nicknames, and was considered to be the family historian until her memory started to slip in the last several years. BESSIE A. METZGER - 100, of Conestoga View, 900 E. King Street, Lancaster, died there Thursday morning of natural causes. Mrs. Metzger was employed in the laundry department at Millersville University for 10 years retiring in 1965. She was the oldest member of Church of Christ, Lancaster. Born in Lower Chanceford, she was the daughter of the late John and Lillie E. Rittenhouse Duncan. Her husband, Clarence H. Metzger, died in 1949. Surviving are two daughters, Verneda F. Foltz and Romaine H. Morrow, both of Lancaster; a son, Clarence H., husband of Sandra Metzger of Mount Joy; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; and a sister, Edith Markley of Lancaster.
