Services for Herbert L. Shipp, 72, Santa Paula, will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Robert A. Stetler Funeral Chapel, Santa Paula, with the Rev. Thomas Fowler officiating. Burial will follow in Santa Paula Cemetery.


Mr. Shipp died Saturday in a Santa Paula convalescent home after a long illness. He was born Sept. 9, 1913, in Washington County, Ark. He had been a seven-year county resident, coming from Bakersfield.


He was a chicken rancher for 20 years before he retired in 1972. He was also a member of the Antelope Valley Ranchers Association.


He is survived by wife Norma; daughter Jean Beck and son Clark, both of Lancaster; stepdaughters Kathy Brown, Judy Whittaker, and Connie Dollahite, all of Santa Paula, and Sherry Wilkinson of Dixon; stepsons Larry Leslie, Michael Leslie and Jack Poss, all of Santa Paula; sisters Aline Spirgen and Kathaleene Fowler, both of La Habra, Robbie Porter of Pomona and Joyce Weible of Converse, Texas; 19 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.


Friends may call at the mortuary until 7 tonight.
