"J.H. McSPARIN, 67, WAR I VETERAN, DIES AT CARRIER MILLS
James Harry McSparin, 67, died at his home on North Main street in Carrier Mills yesterdsay at 11:30 a.m.
He was a retired barber in a state hospital at Ukiah, Calif. and had been in poor health for the past three years. He was also a veteran of World War I.
He leaves his wife, Marie, one brother, Claude McSparin, Barkley, Mich. and the following half sisters and brothers: Mrs. J. P. Reid, Carbondale. Johnny McSparin, Metropolis. Paul McSparin, Carrier Mills. Eldon McSparin, Smyrna, Ga. Carlos Lee McSparin, Stonefort. Russell McSparin, Cicero.
Funeral services will be Friday at 2 p.m. at the Baptist church in Carrier Mills. Rev. Ernest Ammon will officiate and burial will be in Zion cemetery, east of Ozark. The Stonefort American Legion Post KMBB No. 400 will perform military rites at the cemetery. The body lies in state at the Thornton funeral home in Carrier Mills.
Flower girls will be neighbors and friends."

James Harry McSparin was the oldest of two sons born to John Grant McSparin and 1st wife, Grace M. 'Gracie' Whitaker McSparin. Their second son was William Claude McSparin 1 Dec 1890 - 7 Mar 1967.
