Mary Anne "Polly" Hawpe, age 87, of Oakleaf Village, Greer (formally of Waynesboro, Va.), died May 26, 2002.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas G. Hawpe; sisters, Margaret D. Brown, and Jane D. Todd; brother, Edward Dunlap; and a grandson, Tommy N. Hawpe.
Surviving are her sons and daughters-in-law, Thomas G. and Kitty F. Hawpe, Jr. of Greenville, W. Carleton and Leona B. Hawpe of Alexandria, Va., Edward C. and Nancy T. Hawpe of Milford, Del.; five grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren; and a sister, Lelia Dunlap of Stauton, Va.
Mrs. Hawpe loved to knit, she owned "Polly's Knitting Shop" in Waynesboro, Va., she worked at the Waynesboro School System as a secretary, and she also was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Waynesboro.
Graveside services will be held Wednesday, May 29, at 10 a.m. at the Mount Carmel Presbyterian Church cemetery in Raphine, Va. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Lung Association, 84 Villa Road, B-2 Greenville, SC 29615, or your local chapter. The Mackey Mortuary 311 Century Dr.
