INJURIES ARE FATAL TO FARMER
----------------
Team Runs Away on Farm near
New Hope, Throwing Clarence
T. Hawpe to Ground; Dies Thirty
Minutes Later; Funeral Arrange-
ments Incomplete.

----------------

Injured when he was thrown from a piece of farm machinery about five-thirty p.m. Monday, Clarence T. Hawpe, ages sixty-two years, died thirty minutes later at his home on the Cline farm at New Hope, on which he was a tenant farmer. The farm is owned by the Sprout family.

Mr. Hawpe was alone at the time of the accident, which occurred when the team of horses attached to a manure spreader ran away. He was found unconscious within a few minutes by his son-in-law, Dan W. Strickler, who summoned aid. The injured man was carried to the house. At the time it was not believed that his injuries were serious, as a laceration on his face was the only evidence that he had been hurt.

Surviving Mr. Hawpe are his widow; three daughters, Mrs. Strickler, of New Hope; Mr. L.S. Strickler, of Mt. Sidney, and Mrs. Leona Richardson, of San Antonio, Tex.; a son, Melvin Hawpe, of Greenville, and two brothers, A.C. and C.B. Hawpe, of Greenville.

No funeral arrangements had been made last night.

Mr. Hawpe was for many years a resident of the Greenville community and had only recently moved to New Hope.
