A graduate of the Virginia Military Institute, Major Miller was executive officer of the 1st Battalion, 32nd Infantry, 7th Infantry Division at Chosin Resertvoir during the Korean War. During the retreat from the reservoir, Major Miller lost 4 fingers of his left hand, severe frostbite of the fingers of his right hand, and leg wounds. He survived the ordeal, remained in the Army, and eventually retired to Virginia.

Born in Richmond, Virginia, Crosby "Dickie" Park Miller graduated in the VMI Class of 1940. Col. Miller received a BS in Civil Engineering. In the Army, Col. Miller earned 2 Silver Stars and 2 Bronze Stars for valor, 2 Purple Hearts for wounds sustained in WWII and the Korean War,and 2 Legion of Merit awards. After his retirement from the Army, Col. Miller resided in Fairfac County, VA and was the County Coordinator. Col. Miller is listed in the new Hall of Valor at VMI, where the personal medals for valor of alumni are individually displayed.
