GORDON E. FURMAN DIES IN BALTIMORE; NATIVE OF CITY
Gordon Edward Furman, 46, who resided at 6516 Loch Hill Road, Baltimore, Md.,died March 8 at the Greater Baltimore Medical Center following a heart attack.
A bomber pilot during World War II, he was born in Fond du Lac, Jan. 7, 1920, the son of George L. and Rose A. Furman. Mr. Furman had attended St. Joseph’s School and was a graduate from Goodrich High School before entering the U.S.Air Force as a lieutenant Feb. 8, 1943, in Douglas, Ariz.
Following the end of the war he served as a major in occupied Japan and was a member of the Air Force Reserve for several years. Moving to Baltimore, Mr. Furman was employed for eight years as manager of Capitol Records Distributing Corp., and was night manager of the data processing section of the First national Bank, Baltimore, at the time of his death. He married Lt. Jeanne Wells, Army Nurse Corps., Jan. 15, 1944, in Birmingham, Fla. She survives.
Other survivors include three children, Carol, Mark and Scott, at home in Baltimore; his mother, who resides in Fond du Lac; two sisters, Mrs. Ruth Pomerville, Phoenix, Ariz., and Mrs. Audrey Ablard, city; and one brother, Arlyn, city. He was preceded in death by his father, one brother and one sister.
Funeral services were March 11 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, Baltimore. Burial was in Arlington National Cemetery, Washington, D.C., with military graveside rites conducted by Capt. William D. Vickers, chaplain.
