In 1887, the family moved to Hunt County, Texas. In 1899 they moved to Collingsworth County, Texas, just south of Wellington. Cliff attended school in Goodnight College and played football. Cliff married Grace Isabelle Lewis at Wellington on July 9, 1916. He was a successful farmer and was the first to develop irrigation in the Kelley Community.
Cliff died of a heart attack on February 15, 1957. The night before he had celebrated the birthdays of his wife and twin daughters surrounded by his entire family.
Children: Evelyn Cleo married Thomas Lynn Carter; Irma Olyse married Arthur John Kane; Ima Odessa married Fred Sanford Covey.
