On January 15, 1968, company size operations continued in the Michelin. At 0840 hours Company C received four 60mm mortar rounds and automatic weapons fire in the area of XT 554537. Artillery was fired at the suspected enemy positions with unknown results. Two Bobcats from Company C were killed in the action.

"Edmeston Soldier Killed in Vietnam. SP4 Brian T. Cady of Edmeston was killed in Viet Nam on January 15, according to word received last week by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Norman Cady of 26 North Street, Edmeston. Mr. and Mrs. Cady were notified personally by Army officers of the death of their son and details were relayed later by telegram. The 20-year-old soldier was killed by small arms fire as he disembarked from a helicopter somewhere in Viet Nam, Army officials reported. Specialist Cady was inducted into the Army on October 26, 1966 and landed in Viet Nam on April 21, 1967. He was a member of Company C, 1st Battalion, Fifth Infantry, 25th Infantry Division. He was born August 7, 1947, in New Berlin, the son of Norman and Doris (DeRosia) Cady. He was graduated from Edmeston Central School in 1965 ... Surviving are his parents; a sister, Mrs. Lorraine Washburn of Hampton, Va. and a brother, Kevin, at home. Funeral services were held at 3 p. m. on Tuesday, January 23, at the Edmeston Baptist Church, with the Rev. John Blackman, pastor, officiating.
