Frank R. Hunt Jr., 82, Punta Gorda, died June 3, 2002. He was born Nov. 29, 1919, in Minneapolis and came to Punta Gorda in 1985 from Minnesota. He graduated from the University of Minnesota with a degree in radio advertising. He was a Marine Corps veteran. He served during World War II, and received the Distinguished Flying Cross and other medals. He retired from radio advertising after many years. He was past president of Northwest Tonka Lions, and past commandant of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Mound, Minn. He was on the board of directors for Lake Minnetonka Conservation District, served as a councilman of Spring Park, Minn., for several years, and was president of Bay Palms Mobile Home Park. Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Betty; daughters Barbara Sherman of Punta Gorda and Patricia of Indianapolis, Ind.; brother Robert of Minneapolis; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be later. Burial will be in Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell.
