John Oliver Fredlund, 78, Davie and formerly of Sarasota, died June 19, 2002. He was born April 26, 1924, in Kansas City, Mo., and moved to Davie in 1998. He retired as president of Shell City Liquors and vice chairman of the board of Hills Bros. of Miami. He was an Army Air Forces pilot during World War II and flew missions in eastern Europe in support of the Free French. He was also a flight engineer, a gunner and an instructor in the Korean War. He was president of the Wine and Spirits Guild of America and a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Fort Lauderdale. Survivors include a daughter, Gail Chavez of Davie; a son, John W. of Boca Raton; a sister, Nancy Petersen of Mission, Kan.; brothers Robert R. of Sarasota, David D. of Bethesda, Md., and Dan of Rutherfordton, N.C. Services were in Fort Lauderdale. Burial was in Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell. Memorial donations may be made to Spina Bifada of Alabama, P.O. Box 10538, Birmingham, AL 35213.
