Jay C. Borcherding, former resident of the Hanover area who received a kidney transplant from his sister, August 20, died at 12:15 am today at Veterans Hospital, Indianapolis. He had been hospitalized for the past two years. The transplant donor was his sister, Mrs. Jean Whitsitt, Huntsville, Al. Borcherding, 29, was a native of Jefferson County and had attended Southwestern High School, where he was a varsity basketball star. He also enjoyed most sports including track and water skiing. In 1960, he began serving a four year term in the Air Force. He was at Panama during the crisis, and also served in several South American areas. His wife, Joyce Borcherding, is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Wehner, route one, Hanover. A seven year old daughter, Teresia, and his mother, Kathryn Borcherding, route five, also survive. His father, John C. Borcherding, died six years ago. The Barnes Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. He will be interned at the Symrna Presbyterian Cemetery.
