Addie Mae McKown, 95, of Independence, Mo., passed away, Friday, February 26, 2010, at the Rehabilitation Center of Independence. Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 2, 2010, at the Carson-Speaks Chapel. Burial will be in White Chapel Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 10 a.m. until service time Tuesday at the chapel. Addie Mae was born March 5, 1914, to Landie Richard and Carrie (Clements) Hulse, and would have celebrated her 96th birthday on Friday. She had worked as an executive secretary for Kansas City Title Insurance Company for over 25 years until she retired. She was a lifelong Methodist by faith. For many years, she enjoyed vacationing with her husband on fishing trips to Minnesota. She graduated from high school in Liberty, Mo., and attended Kansas City College of Commerce. She was married to Clarence McKown on July 20, 1940; he preceded her in death on January 17, 1980. She is survived by: a son, Gary McKown and his wife Judy of San Diego, Calif.; a sister, Martha Troutz of Independence, Mo.; two granddaughters, Amy Eulert of Kansas City, Mo., and Michelle Campagna of LaJolla, Calif., and four great grandsons.
