In 1852, Thomas and Mary Nichols Clark of Stark County, Illinois crossed the plains and
settled in Jackson, California in 1853.

month of August 1882:
DIED. Near Jackson, Aug. 22, 1882 Thomas S. Clark,
a native of Massachusettes, aged 73 years, 8 months,
and 28 days.

another December 25, 1810)

Mr. Thomas Clark, an old pioneer and resident of this place, died at his residence last Tuesday morning at the age of 72 years. He had been afflicted with heart disease for a number of years. Was a native of Mass. and much respected by all who knew him. He leaves a widow and large family to mourn his death. He was buried under the auspices of the Pioneer Society on Wednesday.
