John "Cass" Casswell Corbin was born in Kansas to Joshua McWhorter Corbin and Martha Ann (Borders) Corbin. His brothers and sisters included: Byron James, Benjamin Homer, Janet Cora, Clarence Howard, Joshua Marion, Walter DeVerne, Wilbur Eugene, Ruby Rex, Cecil Pearl, Sidney Wallace and Goldie Mae Corbin.
John married Rosa Mae Kane in 1894 in South Dakota. This union was blessed with 4 children. Marshall J., Lillian, Maudie Louina, and Hazel Joy Corbin.
John farmed for many years, and was an employee of the Pinkerton Detective Agency at one time.
