The Wellington Leader November 14, 1968

Mrs. Rudean Morton, died in an Amarillo hospital at 10 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 7. She had been in failing health several months but entered the hospital only recently. She had lived in Collingsworth County 43 years. The former Frances Rudean Wood, she was born Oct. 24, 1904 in Arkansas, the daughter of the late J. C. and Annie Wood. While she was still small the family moved to Brinkman, Okla., where they lived until coming here in 1914. She had been a member of the Church of Christ since early in life. On May 14, 1927, she was married to Floyd Morton in Wellington.

Over a long period of years, Mrs. Morton was associated with her husband in the ownership of an auto agency here. She also had worked for other firms in Wellington and was widely known through the area. A woman of much compassion for those who needed her help, she gave freely of her time and work and her understanding was a source of strength and encouragement to many.

Mrs. Morton is survived by a daughter and son, Mrs. Junior Kellison of Amarillo and Richard Morton of Albuquerque, N.M.; a brother, Rudell Wood of Amarillo; and seven grandchildren.
