Mrs. J. A. Keller, who came to Collingsworth County in a covered wagon with her parents 72 years ago, died in St. Joseph's Hospital at 8:45 p.m. Monday, September 7. She had been ill four years and lived at Thomas Nursing Home.
Her parents, and later her husband, were closely identified with the development of the county from that time on, and she, too, took an active part in community life.
She was Born Rosa Richards at Cresson, Johnson County, October 2, 1886. Her parents were the late J.S. and Sarah Eddington Richards.
On march 12, 1904, she was married to Joe A. Keller in Wellington, and the Cross Roads community was her home from that time. He died April 28, 1966.
Early in life she became a member of the Methodist Church.
Surviving Mrs. Keller are two sons, Earl Keller and Auburn Keller of Wellington. There are three grandsons, Richard Lee Keller of Irving; Col. George A. Keller, stationed with the Army in Pennsylvania; and Billy Joe Keller of Rome, GA; and six great-grandchildren.
A step-son, George Keller, Sr., preceded her in death.
