Maria Beach
Mrs. Maria Beach died at the home of Nicholas Bennett on West street last Saturday morning after a long illness. She was eighty-two ears of age and was a native of Ohio. She was married over sixty years ago to Caleb Beach, who died about a year ago. They came to Indiana in 1850 and settled near Mechanicsburg where they resided until a few years ago, being one among the most prominent families of that community. She joined the United Brethern church early in life and later, when the congregation of that faith to which she belonged disbanded, she united with the Methodist church and was one of its valued members. She was the mother of eleven children, seven of whom survive as follows: Joseph, Mary, Sarah, Emma, Clark, John and Nye. The funeral was held at the Presbyterian church Sunday afternoon. Burial at Oak Hill.

● Her first name and maiden name had various spellings. She was known as Maria and Mariah (my grandmother always called her Mariah.) Her maiden name includes Roseboom, Rosebom, Rosabom, Rosenbom, Rosenbaum, and I'm sure others.
