Loranzo Washington Bryant was born on March 9, 1869, in Monroe County, Kentucky, the only confirmed child of John D. and Nancy (Brown) Bryant, although there are reports that John and Nancy had three additional sons. At the time of Loranzo's birth, John was 25 years old and Nancy was 21 years old.


By the time of the 1880 census, Loranzo and his parents were living in Perry Township, Monroe County, Indiana.


Loranzo married Alice Allgood on 22 May 1889 in Bloomington, Monroe County, Indiana, where they made their home.


Loranzo and Alice had three children. Their first child, Lucil, was born 19 June 1890. Lucil lived just shy of two years. She passed away 10 June 1892. Loranzo and Alice welcomed another child, John Delmar, on 14 May 1892. John Delmar only lived five months. He passed away on 26 October 1892. Their third child, Paul Lorenzo Bryant, was born on 11 May 1894. He died on 15 January 1941.


Ten years after the death of his first wife, Loranzo married again. Isabelle Daisy Waldon became his bride on 20 June 1899. Their marriage took place in Bloomington, Monroe County, Indiana, where they made their home.


Together they had five children. Alva was born in March of 1900 and passed away four months later in July 1900. Frank was born on 14 April 1903 and passed away on 16 August 1988. Floyd was born on 10 October 1914 and passed away on 14 November 1974. Wilma was born on 31 October 1917 and passed away in April 1930. Wayne was born on 6 March 1921 and passed away on 18 February 1989.


For most of his life, Loranzo worked at the various stone quarries in the area.


Loranzo and Daisy maintained their home in Monroe County, Indiana, until their deaths. Loranzo passed away on 29 August 1956 and Daisy died just shy of a year later on 20 July 1957. They are buried together at Rose Hill Cemetery in Bloomington, Indiana.

Loranzo Bryant Dies At Home After Illness


Loranzo W. Bryant, 87 died Wednesday at his residence, 1014 W. 14th St. He had been bedfast since December.


He was a native of Metcalfe county, Kentucky, and had spent most of his life in Monroe county. He was a retired stone mason and a member of the 11th Street Pentecostal church.


Survivors include his wife, Daisy Bryant, three sons, Frank Bryant, Route 7; Floyd Bryant, 1018 W. 14th St., and Wayne Bryant, 1010 W. 14th Street; 13 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.


Funeral services will be conducted at the 11th Street Pentecostal church at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, with burial in Rose Hill cemetery. Rev. Orville Frame will officiate.


The body has been removed from the Day Funeral Home, to the home of a son, Wayne Bryant, 1010 W. 14th St., to remain there until time for the funeral. The body may be viewed there after 7 p.m. today.

● 1870 US Federal Census. In 1870 baby Loranzo was living with his parents, John and Nancy, who were staying with her parents, John and Elizabeth Brown. Loranzo was one years old. The family were living in Monroe County, Indiana.

● 1880 US Federal Census. Loranzo and his parents were living in Perry Township, Monroe County, Indiana. He is ten years old while his parents, John and Nancy, are 31 and 32.

● 1900 US Federal Census. By the 1900 census, Loranzo had married Alice Allgood, they had three children of which only one survived. Alice has passed and Loranzo remarried Daisy Waldon. Loranzo and Daisy have started a family of their own. Loranzo is 31 years old and his occupation was a stonemason. His wife, Daisy Belle, was 18 years old and they had a two month old son, Alva. Paul Lorenzo, whose mother was Alice, was 6 years old.

● 1910 US Federal Census. In 1910 Loranzo is 41 years old and is still a stone mason. He owns his own home without a mortgage. His wife, Daisy, is 25 years old. Alva, who was two months old on the last census, has passed away. Another child, Frank, is seven years old. Also with them is Loranzo's son from his first marriage, Paul, who is 16 years old.

● 1920 US Federal Census. Loranzo says he is 45 in this census. He is a Laborer in wholesale grocery and they rent their home on West 7th Street in Bloomington, Indiana. His wife, Daisy, is 36 years old. Their son Frank is 18 years old; son, Floyd is 5 years old and daughter, Wilma, is two years old.

● 1930 US Federal Census. Loranzo is stating his age as 57 and he owns his own home. He is currently working as a laborer at a lumber company. They are living on Fourteenth Street in Bloomington, Indiana. His wife, Daisy, is 47 years old; Floyd is 15 years old; Wayne is nine years old; and Wilma has passed since the last census.

● 1940 US Federal Census. Getting a little closer to his real age, Loranzo lists his age as 70 years old and he is a laborer. He owns his own home located at 1014 W. 14th Street, Bloomington, Indiana. Daisy is 58 years old and son, Wayne, is 18 years old.

● 1950 US Federal Census. Loranzo is 81 years old and is unable to work. He and his wife are still living at 1014 W. 14th Street in Bloomington, Indiana. Daisy is 68 years old.

Loranzo Washington Bryant was born on March 9, 1869, in Monroe County, Kentucky, the only confirmed child of John D. and Nancy (Brown) Bryant, although there are reports that John and Nancy had three additional sons. At the time of Loranzo's birth, John was 25 years old and Nancy was 21 years old.


By the time of the 1880 census, Loranzo and his parents were living in Perry Township, Monroe County, Indiana.


Loranzo married Alice Allgood on 22 May 1889 in Bloomington, Monroe County, Indiana, where they made their home.


Loranzo and Alice had three children. Their first child, Lucil, was born 19 June 1890. Lucil lived just shy of two years. She passed away 10 June 1892. Loranzo and Alice welcomed another child, John Delmar, on 14 May 1892. John Delmar only lived five months. He passed away on 26 October 1892. Their third child, Paul Lorenzo Bryant, was born on 11 May 1894. He died on 15 January 1941.


Ten years after the death of his first wife, Loranzo married again. Isabelle Daisy Waldon became his bride on 20 June 1899. Their marriage took place in Bloomington, Monroe County, Indiana, where they made their home.


Together they had five children. Alva was born in March of 1900 and passed away four months later in July 1900. Frank was born on 14 April 1903 and passed away on 16 August 1988. Floyd was born on 10 October 1914 and passed away on 14 November 1974. Wilma was born on 31 October 1917 and passed away in April 1930. Wayne was born on 6 March 1921 and passed away on 18 February 1989.


For most of his life, Loranzo worked at the various stone quarries in the area.


Loranzo and Daisy maintained their home in Monroe County, Indiana, until their deaths. Loranzo passed away on 29 August 1956 and Daisy died just shy of a year later on 20 July 1957. They are buried together at Rose Hill Cemetery in Bloomington, Indiana.

Loranzo Bryant Dies At Home After Illness

His wife, Daisy, is 36 years old. Their son Frank is 18 years old; son, Floyd is 5 years old and daughter, Wilma, is two years old.

● 1930 US Federal Census. Loranzo is stating his age as 57 and he owns his own home. He is currently working as a laborer at a lumber company. They are living on Fourteenth Street in Bloomington, Indiana. His wife, Daisy, is 47 years old; Floyd is 15 years old; Wayne is nine years old; and Wilma has passed since the last census.

● 1940 US Federal Census. Getting a little closer to his real age, Loranzo lists his age as 70 years old and he is a laborer. He owns his own home located at 1014 W. 14th Street, Bloomington, Indiana. Daisy is 58 years old and son, Wayne, is 18 years old.

● 1950 US Federal Census. Loranzo is 81 years old and is unable to work. He and his wife are still living at 1014 W. 14th Street in Bloomington, Indiana. Daisy is 68 years old.
