Isabel E. Pons, 87, of 1 Pinetree Road, Lock Haven, died October 21, 2001 in Lock Haven Hospital Extended Care Unit. She was born in Lock Haven on Sept. 19, 1914, a daughter of the late Paul H. and Ada Swisher Welch. She was the widow of Henry Pons, who preceded her in death May 13, 1985. Mrs. Pons was formerly head librarian at Ross Library, retiring in 1984 after more than 50 years service. She was a 1932 graduate of Lock Haven High School and a 1936 graduate of Lock Haven Teachers College. She was a member of Great Island Presbyterian Church, Lock Haven. Survivors include three brothers, Edwin Welch of Emporium, Paul D. Welch Sr. and wife Anne of Lock Haven, and William H. Welch and wife Vivian of Fairpoint; a sister, Mrs. Thomas Millicent Foster of Mission Hills Calif., and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a sister, Helen L. Bowes, and brothers, Bradford and Philip Welch. Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 25, 2001 in Donald G. Walker Funeral Home, 231 High St., Flemington. There will be no visitation. The Rev. Kenneth Page will officiate. Burial will be in Rest Haven Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to the Ross Library.
