On the 5th day of this month at 2:25 a.m. Mr. John Boutwell Charlton died at his home in Uvalde, on West N. Nepal street, aged 73 years, August 16th last and was buried at the Fort Clark cemetery with military honors. The deceased was born at Bowling Green Kentucky. Jack Charlton, as he was known to his old friends, in 1870 to 1876, under General McKenzie, served in the Fourth U.S. Calvary in the Indian War of those years. His widow resides in Uvalde and has the sympathy of the entire community.
