JAY, N.Y. -- Marlene Burt, 51, of Jay N.Y. passed away peacefully with family at her side after a courageous battle with breast cancer at her home on Thursday, Jan. 21, 2010.

She was born on July 4, 1958, in Glens Falls, N.Y.

Marlene loved life and nature, photography, hiking, boating, and was involved and enjoyed the training of Search and Rescue and Service dogs. She leaves behind her best friend and hiking companion, Bella, her German Shepherd.

Marlene is survived by one sister and brother-in-law, Jean and Stan Noble, two brothers and one sister-in-law, John C. Fahlmann, and Edward J. and Candice Burt III; Eight nieces and three nephews: Chrissy Bailey and her husband, Chris, Julie, Heather, and Holly Fahlmann, Kendra and Krystal Burt, Jessica and Heather Noble, Edward J. Burt IV, and Christopher T. Burt and his wife, Rene, and Aaron Noble, along with several grand nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her mother Ruth A. Burt.

Calling hours will be held on Saturday, Jan. 30, 2010, from 10 to 11 a.m. with a memorial service to follow at The Zaumetzer- Sprague Funeral Home, 3 College St., Ausable Forks, N.Y.
