"M.S.U. Man Dies at 67"
Prof. Clifford W. Duncan, 67, of 618 Butterfield Dr., East Lansing, assistant head of the Michigan State University's biochemistry department, died Thursday at the home. Associated with M. S. U. for 33 years, he was nationally known for his research in the biochemistry and nutrition of dairy animals, having received the $1,000 Borden award in 1955.

A native of Portland, Ore., Prof. Duncan came to Michigan State in 1929 as an assistant chemist, was made associate chemist in 1943 and an associate professor in 1946. In 1952 he advanced to professor in the department of agricultural chemistry. He became assistant head of the department of biochemistry in 1958.

Prof. Duncan served with the army in Europe from 1917 to 1919, and was a member of the Reserve Officers Corps from 1928 to 1935. He received his B. S. degree from Oregon State College in 1923 and a M. S. from the University of Washington in 1927. After receiving his B. S. degree from Oregon State he became an organic chemistry instructor there, remaining until his removal to Michigan State in 1929.

Prof. Duncan was a member of Sigma Xi, American Chemical Society, American Dairy Science Association, American Society of Animal Production, American Society for the Advancement of Science and the Michigan Academy of Science, Arts and Letters. He was author of more than 100 scientific articles and papers.

He was a member of Peoples Church, East Lansing, the Lansing Philatelic society and a member of F. and A. M. lodge, Oregon.

Surviving are the widow, Etta E., and a sister, Mrs. C. R. Vanderpool of Portland, Ore.

Funeral services will be held at I p. m. Monday at the Gorsline-Runciman funeral home. Burial will be in Evergreen cemetery.
